Decreased level of support for the current U.S. health care plan across all political parties after watching anti health care reform ad

Flemington, NJ, July 27, 2009 – A new national media study among 611 viewers of two opposing ads on health care reform revealed that after watching both ads, most Republicans (85%) and Independents (60%) said the anti health care reform testimonial ad was more effective. Democrats were split on which ad they thought was more effective (47% reported the anti-reform ad was, 53% reported the pro-reform ad was).

The study was conducted by HCD Research using its MediaCurves.com® website during July 25-26, to obtain viewers’ perceptions of two opposing ads, one anti-reform ad and one pro-reform ad.

Respondents were asked to watch two opposing ads on health care reform. The first ad opposing the current plan for health care reform featured a testimonial from a Canadian citizen describing her experience with government run health care.  The second ad promoted the current plan for U.S. health care reform and slammed Republicans for trying to block progress.

Before watching both ads, 63% of Republicans, 24% of Independents and 10% of Democrats responded that they were not at all supportive for the current health care reform plan. After watching the anti-reform ad,  support among all political parties dropped even more with 69% of Republicans, 36% of Independents and 16% of Democrats responding that they were not at all supportive for the current health care reform plan. After watching the pro-reform advertisement, support from Democrats and Independents increased slightly.

Among the findings:

“Please indicate how supportive you are of our current plan for health care reform?”

I do not believe America's health care system is broken, but I do believe it needs a little tweaking, because costs are way too high. However, Obama's plan is yet another to bring this nation down to the status of a third world country.

Alll I'd like to know is how the Canadian pro-current US health care system paid for her surgery if she has socialized health care? Brain surgery isn't cheap.

If there is no healthcare reform, pretty soon only the rich will be able to afford health insurance. Our family is insurance poor and can't take much higher premiums without just dropping insurance altogether. Even with insurance, if one of us has to go to the hospital, it will cost $5000 for the $1000 deductible and the $4000 out of pocket expense. It's cheaper to just die and I guess that's what many will do with no insurance as the cost goes up and up.

Having lived in Canada, I know the first commercial is a complete lie. Sadly, the ignorant of this country (the majority of republicans) will believe it. If this country's health care is so great, why are we ranked 37th in the world? Those who don't want us to have a public option have insurance or are bought and paid or by insurance companies or big pharma.

If you are talking of apanpcitiols to affiliate programs, the website URL that you need to put in is your website, if you have any. Places like Commission Junction and Linkshare evaluate first the website how it fits with their policies, potential marketability of the topic, etc. before accepting the website into their affiliate program. If you do not have a website, you cannot apply to these programs. Get a website first, before you apply.

I could point mistake after mistake after them because I read. I could see if you didn't ever do any research you'd fall for it, but in reality both ads are totally wrong and easily disproved within 5 minutes of research

Something has to be done about health care. When the only way that some people can get medical care is to go to a emergency room and cause an unpaid bill health care is in crisis. It is up to voters to be concerned enough to understand the proposals being offered and contact our representives with our opinions.

I think reform is needed but not in the form of government healthcare. The cost of healthcare is rising and our employeers are paying less and less. It used to be I would get healthcare benefits and not fear going to the doctor for fear I couldn't afford it and I have company provided healthcare and I can't afford to take my kids or go to the doctor.

The anti-reform ad was more influencial, but I don't believe it's what we're necessarily headed toward. They're putting out one worst case scenario. The pro-reform needs to do a little better with their ad to impact people.

Health care benefits for congress, the senate, and insurance lobiests and executives should be canceled until a reform has been made that allows coverage for the average American citizen.

The pro-reform ad doesn't bring it home and make it as personal as the anti-reform ad. While I completely agree with the pro-reform information in the ad, the emotional impact of the anti-reform ad may resonate with less informed viewers

I've inquired of the plans in both the UK and Canada. They are less than desirable.

Barack Hussein Obama is an anti-American Marxist who sees us all as scum to be regulated. Down with Socialized health care!

Canada medical may be free, but there are no benefits to these people, USA medical plan is way better and should stay this way.

I feel that gov reform is in order. I do not want government dictating the type of health care or treatment that is needed any more than I want insurance companies deciding what is necessary. The Medical specialist should have the freedom to perscribe the correct treatment.

Changing the way we do health care in the U.S. should be done, but no one has come up with a good way to do this. The current plan is not working, but the proposed plan seems to be the same except on the opposite side of the same problem. I would like to see something more fitting of a people free to choose.

No one is trying to run our health care system. If you want to keep your private insurance feel free to. What I don't understand is how some can be so convinced that reform is socialism. I really hope you don't have a major medical problem as it stands now you can declare bankruptcy or die if you do. My grandparents pay 14,000 a year for health insurance and the system isnt broken?
